# FAQ

> Answers to common questions about BooleanSMTP — providers, multiple connections, queueing, log retention and its REST API.

## General

**What does BooleanSMTP do?**
It takes over WordPress's `wp_mail()` function and sends every email your site generates — contact forms,
password resets, order receipts — through a mail provider you choose, instead of your web server.

**Which providers does it support?**
Five mailers: Amazon SES, Google Workspace, Microsoft Outlook, Custom SMTP (any SMTP server)
and PHP Mail. See [Mailers](/mailers/).

**Is my email data secure?**
Every credential you enter is encrypted before it's stored.

## Setup

**Can I use more than one provider?**
Yes. Create one connection per From address: an email goes out through the connection that owns its From
address, and anything else through your **Default Connection**. If a send fails, BooleanSMTP can retry it
immediately on a second connection (**Fallback Connection**, in **Settings → Delivery & Reliability**). See

## Sending

**Does BooleanSMTP queue my emails?**
No — every send still goes out immediately through `wp_mail()`. The only thing it ever queues is a message
that already failed, and only when **Retry on other connections** is on: that message is retried on your
other active connections, up to 2 attempts by default. See [Fallback and retries](/sending/fallback-and-retries/).

**What happens when an email fails to send?**
It's logged with the provider's error. If you've set a **Fallback Connection**, BooleanSMTP retries through
it immediately; if that also fails, and **Retry on other connections** is on, it's queued for a later retry.

## Logs

**How long are email logs kept?**
Whatever you set as the **Retention Period** in **Settings → Logging & Retention**: 7, 14, 30 (the default),
90 or 365 days. Older logs are cleared automatically.

**Can I export my logs?**
Yes, from the command line: `wp boolean-smtp logs:export` writes recent logs to a JSON file. There's no
for its options.

Yes, and every route needs WordPress admin access — see
